telehealth services
I currently conduct psychological assessment and therapy via TELEHEALTH ONLY.
This can be a convenient way to access therapy and allows you to attend sessions even if getting out of the house is hard or not possible, you are (mildly) unwell, you live remotely, adding travel time to the juggle of life is just too much, or you simply feel more comfortable in your own space.
HOW TO PREPARE FOR TELEHEALTH
You’ll need a space that is private, comfortable and free of interruptions. It’s important that you are able to talk freely during the session. You can surround yourself with cushions to cuddle, bring fidget toys, have your pet(s) with you, drink something warm and comforting - whatever feels soothing for you.
Sessions are scheduled based on Melbourne time, so if you live interstate, please check that you allow for any time differences.
You’ll also need access to reliable internet and a computer, tablet, or phone that has a microphone, speaker, and camera. Sessions are run via Google Meet (with sufficient security features) and you will receive a link to the meeting in advance. You do not need to have a Google account to access the telehealth meeting.
At the start of every session, Jodie will ask where you currently are (e.g., at home or work). This is important to know in the case of an emergency.
when is telehealth not suitable?
Telehealth is not a suitable means of providing therapy if you require intensive support due to medical complications, psychological distress, or the risk of harming yourself or others. Telehealth is also not suitable in emergency situations. Instead, call Lifeline on 13 11 14 or if you are at immediate risk, call 000 or attend your nearest hospital emergency department.
